  • The Features of PPSh-41

The PPSh-41 was chambered for the 7.62×25mm Tokarev cartridge, a high-velocity pistol round known for its penetration power against light body armor and obstacles. One of its key features was its dual magazine system, allowing soldiers to use either a 71-round drum magazine or a 35-round box magazine, offering flexibility in different combat scenarios.

Compared to the PPD-40, the PPSh-41 simplified production by using stamped metal parts, reducing manufacturing time and costs. This made it one of the most widely produced submachine guns of the war. The weapon had an extremely high rate of fire at 900 rounds per minute, which made it exceptionally effective in close-quarters combat, trench warfare, and urban fighting. Despite its high rate of fire, soldiers often used short bursts to maintain accuracy and control.
