The AK-105 is a compact assault rifle developed by Russia in the post–Cold War era. It is part of the AK-100 series and continues the well-known reliability of the Kalashnikov family, while adapting to modern combat needs. Chambered in 5.45×39mm, the AK-105 features a shortened barrel and overall length, making it easier to handle and carry. It is especially suited for vehicle crews, special forces, and urban combat situations.
The rifle is based on the AK-74M and keeps the long-stroke gas piston system and rotating bolt design. This ensures reliable performance even in harsh conditions. It uses a side-folding polymer stock, which reduces weight and improves portability. The muzzle device is similar to that of the AK-74, helping to control recoil and muzzle rise during rapid fire.
Compared to the older AKS-74U, the AK-105 offers better balance in range and accuracy. It fills the gap between a full-length rifle and a compact weapon. It also includes a side rail for mounting optical sights, allowing it to meet modern battlefield requirements.
